Transdisciplinary Themes

Six Transdisciplinary Themes

“To be truly educated, a student must also make connections across the disciplines, discover ways to integrate the separate subjects, and ultimately relate what they learn to life.” (Boyer 1995)

These six transdisciplinary themes allow students to acquire skills in context, explore content that is relevant to them and which transcend the boundaries of the traditional subjects. These globally significant themes are common to all PYP schools and allow students to examine the commonalities of human experience. They are revisited throughout the PYP so they are immersed in broad-ranging, in-depth curriculum content.
