Alison Bibb-CarsonAlison Bibb-Carson is a strategic communications and marketing professional. She currently serves as chief marketing and communications officer at College Now Greater Cleveland. A Shaker Heights graduate, who attended Shaker Schools from kindergarten, Ms. Bibb-Carson returned to the community after a successful career in the Washington, D.C. area, where she served as an external affairs officer for American Water, director of marketing and communications for the National Children’s Museum and worked as an independent public relations consultant, writer and editor. She has been an active volunteer in Jack and Jill of America Inc. in both Northern Virginia and Cleveland and in the Church of St. Dominic in Shaker Heights. She was a member of the President’s Diversity Council at Cleveland State University and served as chair of the Community Engagement Committee for the Metropolitan Council of Governments. Ms. Bibb-Carson holds a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communication from Ohio University and studied media and public affairs in the master’s program at George Washington University. Lora CoverLora Cover has 25 years of talent experience, spending most of her work-life sitting on the operational side. For more than a decade she worked at Teach For America, recruiting teachers and working to build a human assets team, ultimately leading the organization's People and Talent work. She then went on to be the Chief Talent Officer at Cleveland Metropolitan School District where she built a strategic talent team to support significant transformation in the district of over 6,000 employees. She took her career managing People teams and moved to consulting — both for Bellwether Education Partners and then for Promise54, where she was a founding partner. She now is the founder and CEO of coLeague, a placing on-demand Chief People Officers, people strategists and implementation experts inside organizations - exactly where and how they need them. Their work supports organizations to create cultures where their people can thrive. Ms. Cover holds a bachelor’s degree in labor relations from Cornell University and a master's degree in public administration from Syracuse University. She is the mother of a Shaker Heights alumna and a Shaker Heights High School senior. Ms. Cover was elected as the Board's Vice President in 2023. Term ends 12/31/25. Email: [email protected]
 

Jeffrey IsaacsJeffrey Isaacs is head of U.S. operations for a Japanese maker of specialty art hanging systems in museums such as the Frick Collection, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the National Gallery of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art. He and his wife, Anne Borchert, have three sons. Two are graduates of the District and the youngest is a senior at Shaker Heights High School. Mr. Isaacs is a graduate of Vassar College and earned a graduate degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago. Before moving to Shaker, he and his family lived in Japan for five years, where he was an assistant professor at Yokohama City University. He has been an active PTO volunteer for more than a decade, serving in a variety of leadership roles including PTO Co-President for Boulevard and the PTO Council, as a tutor, a band booster and as a National History Day judge. He previously served as Co-President of the Vassar Club of Cleveland. Mr. Isaacs was elected as the Board's Vice President in 2017 and President in 2018. Term ends 12/31/23. Email: [email protected]

Emmitt R. Jolly Jr.Emmitt R. Jolly is a tenured associate professor of biology at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Jolly’s research focuses on the parasitic schistosome worm, which causes schistosomiasis, a global disease affecting over 200 million people across 76 countries. Prior to moving to Shaker Heights with his family in 2009, Dr. Jolly worked as a postdoctoral fellow in molecular parasitology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Jolly earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Tuskegee University and his master’s and doctorate degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Jolly is the father of two — one a graduate of the District and one a junior at Shaker Heights High School. He was elected to the Board in November 2019. Heather WeingartHeather Weingart is a community leader, volunteer and school leader. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. A Canton, Michigan native, Ms. Weingart has worked as a marketing and operations executive in the hospitality industry in Cleveland, Chicago and Greenville, S.C. Since moving to Shaker Heights in 2006, she has chaired the successful 2017 Shaker Heights Schools $30M levy campaign and the 2015 Night for the Red & White. She has served as the PTO Council, Onaway PTO and Woodbury PTO presidents. Ms. Weingart is also a mother of two current Shaker students. She was elected as the Board's Vice President in 2019 and 2022 and as President in 2020 and 2021. Terms ends 12/31/25. Email: [email protected]

About the Board

The Board of Education is composed of five residents of the School District who are elected to four-year terms. The Board elects its President and Vice President in an annual organizational meeting. Board members bring to their work a variety of perspectives and strengths gained through their personal experiences, their education and careers, and their volunteer service in the community.

Board members do not have the authority to act individually in the name of the Board. The Board may take action only at duly convened regular, special or emergency meetings.
