2019-2024 Strategic Planning Process

The Shaker Heights City School District's current 2014-2019 Strategic Plan guides all work in order to attain the District's Mission and Vision. With 13 months remaining in the current Plan, the District is looking ahead to developing the next Five-Year Strategic Plan.

Community involvement and transparency continue to be priorities in the strategic planning process. To that end, the District will soon be circulating a survey to help set priorities. Community members are also encouraged to attend the Strategic Planning Committee meetings, which are open to the public.

Once a plan is constructed by the Committee and adopted by the Board of Education, the superintendent is responsible for working collaboratively with the administration, faculty, staff, students and parents to execute the plan and establish action plans to attain the strategic goals. That is why it is crucial this important planning process continues as the Board searches for the next superintendent.

The District has established a Committee comprised of 44 representatives from various stakeholder groups including students, parents and community members. These stakeholders will be joined by District administrators including the interim superintendent, faculty, staff and Board of Education members.

The District has also secured the services of Greenway Strategy Group to help lead this work through facilitation of the strategic planning process along with that of the work by the Equity Task Force. This firm has decades of applied strategy experience and utilizes a highly inclusive, collaborative approach that builds the capacity of organizations to implement meaningful change.

We are hopeful you will find time to be part of the strategic planning process, either by attending a meeting to observe, taking our survey and/or following the process on our website. You may find resources from the Strategic Plan Committee meetings here.
