The three classes with the most Box Tops collected will win a reward (to be announced)!  Box Tops must be submitted no later than Monday, February 11th to be counted for the contest.  Look for more information in upcoming fliers in Backpack Mail, on Facebook and on the web page for Lomond PTO.  Happy collecting!

PTO Special Education/Learning Difference Parent/Caregiver Group

You Are Not Alone In the spring of 2017, the Shaker Heights School District started an Autism Support Group for district families raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Group members offer each other emotional support as well as practical advice. We are fortunate to have participants at most grade levels so we can gain wisdom and insight from those who have “been there, done that!”

We hope you will be able to join us for the next meeting of the group on:
Wednesday, January 16
7:00 PM

Please email Parent Facilitator Jenn Osborne or Parent Mentor Holly Palda  if you plan to attend.

Parent Volunteers Needed for Girls on the Run

Attention Parents of Third and Fourth grade Girls
We are hoping to offer “Girls on The Run” for our Sixth year at Lomond!
We need parent volunteers to make this possible.

What is Girls on the Run (GOTR)?: It is an amazing national program that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind.  Trained coaches lead small teams (Lomond students) through a curriculum that includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games.  The girls will develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness.  They will create a service project to help their community.  They will also be prepared physically and emotionally to complete a non competitive, celebratory 5k event in May.

WE NEED COACHES or we can not run GOTR at Lomond!
Here’s what you need to know about volunteering to coach.
1 - You will gain more from this volunteer experience than you can imagine.
2 - Your daughter (if in 3rd or 4th grade) is guaranteed a slot on GOTR at Lomond this season.
3 - You must be able to commit to volunteer at least one day per week of the 10 week program.
4 - You do not have to be a runner to volunteer. You just need to be able to walk with and help motivate the girls.
5 - You CAN be a father!  Dad’s make great coaches for our girls.
6 - The program starts on March 4, 2019 and Lomond runs it’s classes after school 3:30-5:00 on Monday’s and Friday’s.
7 - If you are considering please contact Ms. T (Torwana Powell) and she can fill you in on the details.
For more information on coaching contact Torwana Powell at
(If we are able to fill our coach roster there will be more information about GOTR and how to register your child.)

Keep Informed at Every Grade Level

Have you signed up to receive the PTO's weekly newsletter for each of your children? The newsletter you receive changes as your child progresses to Woodbury, the middle and high schools. To ensure you receive appropriate communications for all of your children at every grade level, we encourage you to click here.  You will be asked for the year of graduation for your student(s) so we can make sure you are added to the right lists and moved up to the next building when each child advances.

Know of an eligible family who's not receiving the Lomond Loop or district information? Please forward this sign-up information! The weekly newsletter is a great way for families to find out what's happening at school. Make sure to also check out Lomond Elementary PTO on Facebook and visit the school website for upcoming events.
