January 30, 2022: Updates to COVID-19 Protocols

January 20, 2022—Per a January 26, 2022, order from the Ohio Department of Health, when notified of a positive student or staff COVID-19 case, the Shaker Heights City School District will no longer conduct contact tracing to identify whether or not any individuals have been directly exposed to COVID-19 at school and meet the definition of a close contact.

For the time being, the District will still be providing general classroom and bus notifications for cases, as well as updating the online COVID-19 Dashboard daily.

The District has been closely monitoring data and planning ahead for potential modifications to our COVID-19 protocols. Given the recent drastic and sustained decrease in cases both within our schools and surrounding community, we will be reassessing protocols in the near future, including the Districtwide mask mandate. Should we feel conditions allow for a modification to this policy, an announcement will be made to all staff, faculty, students and families.

We continue to strongly encourage all eligible students and adults to get vaccinated and layer protection with other COVID-19 prevention methods.

The District is working to update our online COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines.
