July 14, 2023— The Shaker Heights City School District is pleased to announce that Assistant Treasurer Shelley A. McDermott has been named Interim Treasurer, effective August 1, 2023. She will succeed Treasurer Bryan C. Christman, who is retiring.

Ms. McDermott has served as the District’s Assistant Treasurer since September 2019. She first worked for the District as an accounting specialist and a payroll specialist from 2012-2015. She has also served as the Assistant Treasurer for the Chardon Local School District and has been the Fiscal Officer of Burton Township for the last 11 years.

Ms. McDermott holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. McDemott’s appointment, which is expected to be approved by the Board of Education on July 18, 2023, is for one year. The Board of Education will continue its search for a permanent Treasurer during the 2023-2024 school year.
