District Announces Finalists for Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The District is pleased to announce two finalists for the position of Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The two finalists will participate next week in a final round of interviews that will include a recorded virtual community interview to be posted on beginning Friday, June 26 for the community to view and provide feedback. To suggest questions for the two finalists, click here. Questions may be submitted until 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 24.

The two finalists for the position of Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are:

Dr. Darnell Parker
Dr. Parker is Senior Associate Vice President of Equity at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Before that, he served as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Title IX Coordinator at Case. He also served as Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Multicultural Affairs/Title IX Coordinator at Washington College in Maryland. He received his Ed.D. from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, and did his undergraduate work at Syracuse University. 

Dr. JeffriAnne Wilder
Dr. Wilder currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida, and is Senior Research Scientist at the National Center for Women and Information Technology, which is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. Before that, she served as a consultant with the Annie E. Casey Foundation. She also was an Associate Professor of Sociology as well as the Founding Director for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations at University of North Florida. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Florida. She did her undergraduate work at Allegheny College and Cleveland State University. 

The two finalists have emerged from a rigorous process that began with more than 80 applicants. That field was narrowed to nine and then four semi-finalists. Earlier this month, the Educational Equity Policy Implementation Advisory Team reviewed performance tasks from four semi-finalists. The feedback provided by the Equity Team helped to narrow the search to the two finalists. A third finalist was identified by the team, but withdrew their candidacy.  

Members of the Educational Equity Policy Implementation Team, which represents a broad cross-section of the community, will have an opportunity to meet and interview both candidates next week. Interviews also will take place with various stakeholder panels, including students, faculty and staff.
