Shaker Schools Foundation Receives $10,000 Grant from The Veale Foundation

August 17, 2017—The Veale Foundation recently awarded the Shaker Schools Foundation a $10,000 grant to help fund the planning and implementation of entrepreneurship programs and activities at Shaker Heights High School for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Shaker Heights High School is a member of the Veale Youth Entrepreneurship Forum, which is funded by The Veale Foundation. The Veale Entrepreneurship Forum consists of 22 member high schools, and has reached over 14,000 students since its founding in 2012.

“It is a great honor to be chosen as a recipient for this grant,” said Holly Coughlin, Executive Director of the Shaker Schools Foundation. “This will provide our students the opportunity to learn real-world skills while nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit.”

“Watching the growth in knowledge, confidence and skills in our Forum students is remarkable and undoubtedly will pay dividends for Northeast Ohio in the years to come,” says Cynthia Bailie, Executive Director of the Veale Youth Entrepreneurship Forum at The Veale Foundation.

The Veale Youth Entrepreneurship Forum is a growing network of high schools in Northeast Ohio that equips students with an entrepreneurial mindset and essential skills through exceptional education and real-world experiences in entrepreneurship. Forum events include: ThinkFest, PitchFest, Veale Venture Challenge, Veale Startup Week, and new this year, the thinkBIG! Veale Innovation Challenge & Summit.

The Shaker Schools Foundation, now it is 36th year, exists to enrich the educational experiences of students in the Shaker Heights City Schools. With contributions from individuals, organizations, and companies, the Foundation supports academic and co-curricular activities and capital projects, as well as helps eliminate barriers so that all students can take advantage of the many opportunities Shaker offers.
