Ronald McDonald Mobile Returns to Shaker Heights Schools

Ronald McDonald Mobile January 17, 2019—The Ronald McDonald Mobile returned to Shaker Schools this month, providing routine dental cleanings, sealing teeth and filling cavities for students in grades K-6. Shaker Schools has been a Mobile stop since 2012, when Boulevard Elementary nurse Janet Meinhard reached out to University Hospital to coordinate visits for students who don't have a regular dentist and haven't had annual dental care. Thanks to Mrs. Meinhard's efforts, today Shaker students are among the 4,000 children (ages 3 to 12) in 20 Northeast Ohio counties who receive annual on-site dental care.

"These children are receiving dental care they wouldn't ordinary get and better, their parents don't have to be there, so they don't have to miss work and the children don't have to miss a day of school," Mrs. Meinhard told The Shaker Schools Connection E-Newsletter in February 2018. "It's also a huge plus for our international families who don't know where to go for dental care and for our transient population."

The Ronald McDonald Mobile visited Boulevard and Lomond last week and earlier this week. Next week, it will be at Woodbury on January 23 and at Onaway and Mercer on January 22 and 24.
