South Korean Delegation Visit

Shaker Heights Schools welcomed members of a guest delegation from South Korea who are visiting to learn more about the District's IB implementation. Guests in the delegation include Mr. Byoung-woo Kim, the Governor of Education from Chungcheongbuk-do province in central South Korea, as well as South Korean teachers, professors and journalists.

Fredrick Howery Named Head Coach of Shaker Heights High School Girls' Basketball Team

fredrick HoweryMay 7, 2019—Shaker Heights High School is excited to announce the selection of Fredrick Howery as the new Head Coach for the Shaker Heights High School Girls' Basketball program. 

Coach Howery received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management from Cleveland State University and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education (Health/Physical Education) from The University of Findlay. He currently teaches Health and Physical Education in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District at John Hay School of Architecture & Design.

Coach Howery has more than 20 years of experience coaching and playing various sports at the high school and collegiate levels. He is an experienced educator and coach who has achieved success most recently as the Women’s Basketball Head Coach at John Hay High School where his teams were 15-6, 20-5 and 17-6 for the past three seasons.

As part of his overall vision for girls’ basketball in Shaker Heights, Coach Howery looks forward to being heavily involved with improving and strengthening the youth/travel program in the community as well as working closely with the Middle School coaches and program to create a more cohesive girls’ basketball program.
