From the Board: Superintendent Search Update

The Board announces the selection of search firm Ray & Associates Inc. to work with us to recruit the next superintendent of the Shaker Heights City School District. Ray & Associates is a national search firm based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with offices in Columbus, Ohio. The firm has provided search services for scores of school districts in dozens of states as well as nine state education departments, including the Ohio Department of Education.

Board members selected Ray from a field of seven search firms. Ray has a strong track record in providing superintendent search services for districts that are similar to Shaker in terms of size, cultural diversity and geographic location. Mr. Ryan M. Ray, president of the search firm, will be a part of Shaker’s search team.

In the coming weeks, the Ray team will be here in Shaker to conduct in-person interviews, focus groups, and to facilitate community input sessions. The group will also set up an online survey to help the Board understand the key capacities we seek in our next superintendent. We ask for your collaboration as we work to include many voices in this process.

A broadly constructed leadership profile will be ready in early January, immediately after which the active recruitment phase of the search will begin. The search will be completed in the spring.
