An Important Message from Shaker Heights Schools

The Shaker Heights Police Department is investigating a social media threat involving an unidentified school. Shaker Schools are operating on a normal schedule today but with heightened security. The District and Police Department take the security of our children and staff very seriously. The District will continue to coordinate with our Police Department to ensure normal operations of school facilities throughout the week.

The District takes every threat seriously and will not tolerate disruption of our learning environment.  Our Police Department, with assistance of the FBI when necessary, will attempt to identify any individual who engages in this kind of activity. Please understand that anyone who threatens our schools will receive the necessary support services; however, will be prosecuted, and will never step foot inside the Shaker Schools again.

As always, we ask all parents, staff, children and community members to be alert to suspicious activity, and contact the school administrator and/or police immediately if anything unusual is observed or heard. We also encourage parents to monitor their child’s social media. Our counselors, administrators and teachers are trained to deal with social and emotional issues our students may be experiencing. Should you believe your student needs assistance, please contact an administrator at their school.
