High School Holds 9th Annual Shakespeare Competition

Shaker Heights High School Senior Gus Mahoney will advance to the Cleveland Shakespeare Competition after placing first in the High School's 9th Annual English Speaking Union In-School Shakespeare Competition. Senior Sydney Keller claimed second place and senior Lillian Baum took third.

The Cleveland Shakespeare Competition will take place at Westlake High School at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 25.

Sponsored by The English Speaking Union (ESU), the competition is designed to help high school students develop their communications skills and appreciation of language and literature through the study, interpretation, and performance of Shakespeare's monologues and sonnets. Students participate in three qualifying stages at the school, ESU regional, and national levels.
