High School Students Win Vergil Week Contest at Case

Three Shaker Heights High School students took home awards at the annual Vergil Week Latin Recitation Contest on Tuesday, April 19, at Case Western Reserve University.

All three students placed in the high school division. Junior Sam Katz won the competition and netted the $100 first prize. Junior Lillian Baum placed second and won $50, and sophomore Julia Shin placed third and won $25.

Open to high school and college students, participants were required to memorize and recite a passage from Vergil's Aeneid.
