Field Hockey Team Wins State Championship

Led by senior Kasidy Anderson, the Raiders defeated defending champions Columbus Academy to earn their first title since 1991.

Anderson scored the game's only goal in the first half on a pass from Marcia Brown. Goalie Audrey Anderle chalked up four saves to hold off the favored Columbus team, the 10-time state champions.

The win was especially sweet for Kasidy's mother, head coach Hilary Hughes Anderson (SHHS '88), who as a player at Shaker barely missed the state title. Anderson's sister, assistant coach Jennifer Hughes Clarke (SHHS '92) was on the last Shaker team to win it all.

The full roster:

Audrey Anderle, Kasidy Anderson, Kylie Boyle, Haley Brady, Colleen Bradley, Marcia Brown, Abby Connell, Ruth Geye, Olivia Hamilton, Mae Harris, Elana Herbst, Sarah Jacobs, Caroline Kruithoff, Bridget Mitchell, Meagan Mitchell, Jessica Morford, Katie Muller-Girard, Juliana Pollock, Adriana Ponce de Leon, Caroline Webster.

Head coach: Hilary Anderson ('88). Assistant Coaches: Jennifer Clarke ('92), Delia McDermott ('07)
