The Task Force defined what equity means within our District and evaluated equity as it related to the District's:
Over the course of its work, the Task Force studied data, talked to a broad base of stakeholders and experts, and made recommendations to our Board of Education with the goal of establishing a district-wide equity policy and action plans.
- Racial disparity and achievement gap
- Underrepresentation of minorities in advanced-level courses
- Educator workforce diversity
- Gifted education programs
- International families
- LGBTQ community
- Special education programs
The Task Force included 11 educators, nine community members and two students. These members served a two-year term. The formation of this group and its ability to continuously foster equity through the coordinated efforts of our schools, our community and our young people was an important step to ensuring that the dialogue we have on equity is not only productive, but lasting.
