Ludlow Renovation

The newly-renovated Ludlow Early Learning Center serves as a dedicated space for early learning, providing a nurturing and educational environment for the District's youngest students. Supporting the developmental needs of preschool children, it plays a crucial role in fostering a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

our vision

The newly-renovated Ludlow building is home to the Ludlow Early Learning Center PreK program, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. This space is designed with early learning in mind, featuring easy access to restrooms, spaces to accommodate occupational and physical therapy, preschool-aged playground equipment and outdoor learning spaces, flexible furniture designed for our youngest learners, smart storage and more.

The Ludlow Early Learning Center has 12 classrooms, a physical therapy room, a gymnasium, a multipurpose room and a secure vestibule entrance. The renovated Ludlow building continues to serve the community with updated playground equipment for all school-aged children and maintain the current athletic fields.

LUDLOW WELCOMES INAUGURAL PRESCHOOL CLASS

The Ludlow Early Learning Center opened its doors to the inaugural preschool class on Monday, September 15! Preschool students were excited to tour the building, meet their teachers and make new friends. Thanks to support from the Shaker Schools Foundation, the City of Shaker Heights and generous donations from residents and alumni, preschool students and older neighborhood children are enjoying a brand new playground at Ludlow!

The Shaker Heights Schools celebrated Ludlow with a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony on September 12, followed by an open house for community members to see the building. Administrators acknowledged the rich history of Ludlow Elementary School and the Ludlow Community Association in their successful integration work in the 1960s. Ludlow alumni flew in from across the country to celebrate the opening of the Ludlow Early Learning Center and visit with each other.

There are a few ongoing items at Ludlow that contractors continue to wrap up, including seeding and paint retouching. For the latest updates, sign up for the regular Facilities Update newsletter.
