Elementary Renovations
Renovating our elementary schools is the next step in implementing the District's Long-Term Master Facilities Plan. By upgrading heating, ventilation, air conditioning and more, the Shaker Heights Schools are continuing to provide a modern, safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

our vision
Renovating the elementary schools is a significant step in the implementation of our Long-Term Master Facilities Plan. The exterior facade of these buildings will remain the same, but there are many renovations planned for inside the buildings. The renovations include upgrades to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, technology, security systems and more. These much-needed renovations will provide our students with modern, safe and inclusive learning environments while maintaining fiscal responsibility over our community resources.
MASTER FACILITIES PLAN
The elementary school renovations are part of the District's Long-Term Master Facilities Plan.

ELEMENTARY DESIGN PROCESS UNDERWAY
After the Woodbury building reopens as the new Middle School, the next buildings the District plans to renovate will be Lomond and Mercer. These buildings were chosen for renovations first because they are Shaker's largest elementary schools, both in terms of square footage and student enrollment.
Architects from GPD Group and Robert P. Madison International are in the early design stages for the elementary school renovations. Architects are reviewing the scope of work for interior items, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, plumbing, security, ADA accessibility and more.
Due to delays with the Woodbury site, District representatives continue to refine the schedule for the elementary schools with the architects and contractors.
Information about community engagement opportunities will be shared as we get closer to the design and construction process. For the latest updates, sign up for the Facilities Update newsletter.
