Public Comment Regarding New Proposed 2026-2027 Calendar Revisions

Due to the anticipated change in the Woodbury renovation schedule, the Shaker Heights City School District is proposing changes to staff professional learning days in the 2026-2027 academic calendar. The revised calendar will include the following changes:

  • Four professional learning days (August 12, 13, 14, 17) at the start of the school year instead of three.
  • Election Day (Tuesday, November 3) will be a professional learning day.
  • Two professional learning days at the end of the school year (June 1-2) instead of four.

THESE CHANGES DO NOT IMPACT STUDENT INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS. The revisions reflect changes to staff professional days only.

Please submit any public comments pertaining to the proposed revised school calendar for the 2026-2027 school year. Comments can be submitted up to 12 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Public comments submitted will be entered into the official record during the School Calendar Hearing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 6 p.m.

Any additional comments may be submitted after 12 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and up until 12 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. These additional comments will be taken into consideration before finalizing the School Calendar, which is expected to be adopted by the Board of Education at its April 14, 2026, meeting.
