Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Gather with friends and neighbors to celebrate the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with two events in January:

Donation Drive:  

Donations of non-perishable food items, hygiene products, diapers and baby wipes will be collected on Saturday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to noon for local nonprofit organizations. This event, held at Shaker Heights Middle School, 20600 Shaker Boulevard, is a collaboration between Shaker Heights Public Library, the City, Shaker Heights Schools, Shaker Schools Foundation and PTO.

Donation Drive Information

Community Conversation & Meal:

This event on Sunday, January 18 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at St. Dominic School, 19000 Van Aken Boulevard, includes a free catered meal (registration required), and a short video by author Eddie S. Glaude, Jr. to launch the community conversation. There will be information shared about opportunities to engage in the community through a variety of gatherings during the year. This is a collaboration between Shaker Heights Public Library, the City, Shaker Heights Schools, Shaker Schools Foundation, and PTO.
