Dr. David Glasner standing in the hallway of Shaker Heights High SchoolDr. David Glasner is the Superintendent of the Shaker Heights City School District. Shaker Heights is one of eight school districts in North American to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme to all students at every grade level.
 
Dr. Glasner previously served as Interim Principal of Shaker Heights High School and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the District. As Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Glasner was responsible for the development and implementation of District curriculum and instructional practices. Dr. Glasner also served as the Principal of Shaker Heights Middle School from July 2014-June 2018.
 
Prior to coming to Shaker Heights, Dr. Glasner served as principal of the Urban Assembly Academy of Government and Law, a public high school in New York. He was also a high school social studies teacher with the New York City Department of Education.
 
Dr. Glasner was a graduate from the IB Diploma Programme at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. in history from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in social studies education from Teachers College, Columbia University, as well as administrative certification from the College of Saint Rose. Dr. Glasner earned his doctorate in Urban Education at Cleveland State University.
 
He and his wife, Elana, who teaches middle school math, live in Shaker Heights with their three children.
