Shelley McDermott Named Assistant Treasurer
August 26, 2019—The Shaker Heights City School District announces that Shelley A. McDermott will return to the Treasurer’s Office as Assistant Treasurer, effective Monday, September 9. She will succeed Assistant Treasurer Karen Sybert (Andrei), who has held the position for 10 years. Sybert has been named the Finance Director for the City of Powell, near Columbus, effective Sept. 3.
Ms. McDermott worked for the District previously as an accounting specialist and a payroll specialist from 2012-2015. Most recently, she has been the Assistant Treasurer for Chardon Local School District. Since 2010, she also has been the deputy fiscal officer/fiscal officer for Burton Township.
“We thank Karen for her years of excellent work and wish her the very best in her new position,” says Treasurer Bryan Christman. “We are very fortunate to have Shelley joining our team. Her deep knowledge of the District combined with her professional experience in finance makes her a fitting addition to the department.”
Ms. McDermott holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She lives in Burton.
