Important Info For Dropoff/Pickup & Parking at the High School, Woodbury & Onaway
August 23, 2021—The City of Shaker Heights and the construction team are working diligently to complete the construction project on Aldersyde Drive as quickly as possible. The City, the Shaker Heights Police Department and the District have been collaborating to make sure the start of school runs as smoothly as possible.

High School, Onaway and Woodbury families should read the information below regarding pickup, dropoff and parking for the start of the school year.

Shaker Heights High School

    Pick up and Drop Off

  • All parents dropping off in the morning and picking up in the afternoon should proceed from Lee Road down Aldersyde Road to the driveway at the front of the High School. A police officer and/or security monitor will be at the driveway directing all cars into the parking lot to drop off in front of the school. Only staff members who show a Shaker Heights City School District badge will be allowed past the main driveway.

  • Parents will drop off students at the main entrance to the building and exit the parking lot onto Laurel Road. There will be a police officer and/or security monitor at this location to allow drivers to make the turn onto Laurel Road. Parents can turn left or right on Parkland.

  • No cars will be allowed to return to Lee via Aldersyde Road.

  • Woodbury Road will be one way from the oval to South Woodland Road, so parents and student drivers cannot enter the oval via Woodbury Road.

Parking

  • There will be less parking on the oval for students during construction. Student drivers can enter the oval via Onaway Road, while passing Huntington Road. Student parking may begin just past Woodbury Road and the baseball field.

  • Student drivers can also enter the oval via Ashford Road at the tennis courts and park on Onaway Road.

  • Student and staff parking on the oval can park from the baseball field to the main entrance to the High School at the intersection of Laurel Road and Aldersyde Drive. No one will be allowed to park on Aldersyde Road.

  • Students can also park on Ashford Road near the administration building all the way down to S. Woodland Road.

  • Students can also park across South Woodland on S. Park Road.

  • According to the Shaker Heights City Police Department, student parkers may park for the entire day in the Onaway neighborhood while construction is occurring.

Woodbury & Onaway

  • Parents/guardians dropping off and picking up students at these school buildings are encouraged to avoid Aldersyde Drive. Parents/guardians may access the dropoff and pickup zones on Woodbury Road from Onaway Road. There are many points of entry to Onaway Road including Van Aken Boulevard and Chadbourne, Warrington and Huntington roads.

  • Onaway’s car dropoff/pickup takes place on Woodbury Road in front of the school building.

  • Woodbury’s car dropoff/pickup for Grade 5 students takes place on Woodbury Road near the fifth-grade playground. Car dropoff/pickup for Grade 6 students takes place on Ashford Road / Parkland Drive near the footbridge.
