JV Esports Team Wins State Championship; Varsity to Compete this Weekend
November 18, 2021 - On Tuesday, November 16, the Shaker Heights High School Esports Junior Varsity Overwatch team defeated Canal Winchester in a decisive 3-0 match to win the JV State Championship! The JV Team players are Gavin Miller, John Butler, Jabril Muhammad, Eliot Coutelen, Andrzej Love, Elijah Bostick, Luke Wilker, Ronan Wade, and Declan Bushnell.  

Additionally, Esports Ohio Varsity playoffs will be held this Saturday and Sunday, November 20-21, at the Cleveland Cavaliers Esports Arena (known as the "Legion Lair"). For the first time in Northeastern Conference Esports competition, all 5 SHHS Varsity Esports teams have qualified for the playoffs, four teams having earned conference championship titles.  They will be competing for the state title this weekend with top esports schools from all over Ohio in Overwatch, Smash Ultimate, Fortnite, Valorant, and Rocket League. 

The teams are coached by Keith Szalay and Aaron Jaggers. 

Due to COVID restrictions, spectators are not allowed at the venue, but the games will be streamed by Kent State University at: https://twitch.tv/esportskentstate.
