District Returns to Full Remote Learning for All Students after Thanksgiving

November 18, 2020—Earlier today, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH) issued a Stay-at-Home Advisory that stated: 


“K-12 schools that are currently implementing a hybrid or full in-person protocol are advised to transition to online remote learning after the Thanksgiving holiday.”


In accordance with this advisory, all Shaker Heights Schools PreK-12 students will return to full remote learning beginning Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 18, which is the start of winter break. In addition, Shaker Heights High School and Middle School in-person athletic practices and competitions are suspended immediately and until further notice. 


All PreK-8 buildings will remain open for onsite and online learning through this Friday, November 20. 


Please note the following: 

  • Onsite students should be sure to bring home their Chromebooks, charging cords, books and any necessary supplies by the end of this week.

  • Conferences on Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24 will continue as scheduled.

  • All students who receive special education services will return to remote learning; specially designed instruction will be offered remotely in accordance with student IEPs.

  • The District will continue to provide meals free of charge for all students during this period of remote learning. 

  • The District will share any additional information regarding remote learning schedules by grade level with families as soon as it becomes available.

  • Additional information about athletics will be shared with winter sports families via Final Forms. 

  • The District will provide information regarding onsite learning in January when it becomes available.
