How Dashboard Cases are Reported

The Dashboard is updated as families and staff members report cases to the Shaker Heights City School District. Families should contact their building principal if a student tests positive or is presumed positive. Staff members should contact the Human Resources Department to report a positive or presumed positive case.

Onaway Update

The District has moved one of Onaway’s classes to a fully remote learning environment following a confirmed COVID-19 case and several close contacts within the classroom. Students in that class who learn onsite will return to the classroom on Monday, February 22. Families of students in the affected class have been notified.

Reminder: Students and Staff Should Remain Home If:

  • Exhibit any Category A or B symptom as outlined under “Student Health Assessment” in the staff and student guidelines.

  • Are defined as a close contact of someone who has a confirmed positive or presumed-positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

  • Are awaiting or have a household member who is awaiting a COVID-19 test result.

Reminder: Fill Out the Daily Health Assessment

Families should complete the District’s daily health assessment/COVID-19 screening each day. To access the health assessment tool:

  • Download the app App Store or Google Play. If you already have the app on your mobile device, please update it.

  • Families who do not have a smartphone can access the app online

  • Follow these instructions to create an account and to register your student. You will need your student’s ID number, available in your student’s ProgressBook or Abre account.

  • Complete the COVID-19 screening daily when your student returns to onsite learning.

Health and Safety

It continues to be important for all staff, students and families to adhere to the key public health prevention strategies to reduce the chance for transmission of COVID-19.

Please also be sure to review these recent clarifications to the District’s staff and student health and safety protocols based upon a clarification from the CCBH:

Close contact is defined as:

  • Within six feet for 15 minutes or more, or someone who was exposed multiple times in one day.

  • Please note, close contacts are considered exposed starting two days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, two days prior to positive specimen collection). All staff should make every effort to limit spending time within 6 feet of students and other staff members.

Additional quarantine guidance for close contacts:

  • Close contacts within zero to three feet may not attend school onsite and may not attend District- or school-sponsored extracurricular activities.

  • Close contacts who wore a mask and were within three feet to six feet may attend school onsite and must quarantine from all activities outside of the academic school day and school transportation, and they may not attend District- or school-sponsored extracurricular activities.

Travel Advisory

Staff and families who plan to travel out-of-state are advised to refer to the state of Ohio’s COVID-19 Travel Advisory webpage for the latest information on self-quarantining recommendations by state. Persons entering Ohio after traveling to states reporting positive COVID-19 testing rates of 15% or higher are advised to self-quarantine for 14 days.
