Schools/Buildings with new reported cases: High School

The Shaker Heights City School District is sending this email as a notification of important COVID-19-related information.

Important Change to the Daily Update

Beginning Monday, March 29, the District will send the COVID-19 Update on weekday evenings only when a new positive or presumed-positive COVID-19 case is reported. The COVID-19 Update will not be sent on days when District offices are closed. However, if a new COVID-19 case is reported when District offices are closed, then classroom notifications will be sent and close-contact phone calls will be made if the student or staff member was contagious when onsite.

In addition, the District’s online COVID-19 Dashboard will be updated weekday evenings only when new positive or presumed-positive cases are reported, or when cases are removed.

New Cases

The District has received a report of 1 new positive COVID-19 case among students. For more information, please visit the District’s online COVID-19 Dashboard.

Case Details

  • The individual received a positive test result and their family notified the District.

  • The individual is a student at the High School who was last onsite Friday, March 26.

  • The individual will isolate until they meet the criteria to end the isolation period (10 days from the onset of symptoms, as well as an improvement in symptoms and 24 hours fever-free without the use of medication).

  • The District is following CCBH recommendations and provided necessary notifications to class families and staff on Saturday, March 27.

How Dashboard Cases are Reported

The Dashboard is updated as families and staff members report cases to the Shaker Heights City School District. Families should contact their building principal if a student tests positive or is presumed positive. Staff members should contact the Human Resources Department to report a positive or presumed positive case.

Reminder: Students and Staff Should Remain Home If:

  • Exhibit any Category A or B symptom as outlined under “Student Health Assessment” in the staff and student guidelines.

  • Are defined as a close contact of someone who has a confirmed positive or presumed-positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

  • Are awaiting or have a household member who is awaiting a COVID-19 test result.

Reminder: Fill Out the Daily Health Assessment

Families should complete the District’s daily health assessment/COVID-19 screening each day. To access the health assessment tool:

  • Download the app App Store or Google Play. If you already have the app on your mobile device, please update it.

  • Families who do not have a smartphone can access the app online

  • Follow these instructions to create an account and to register your student. You will need your student’s ID number, available in your student’s ProgressBook or Abre account.

  • Complete the COVID-19 screening daily when your student returns to onsite learning.

Health and Safety

It continues to be important for all staff, students and families to adhere to the key public health prevention strategies to reduce the chance for transmission of COVID-19.

Please also be sure to review the District’s updated staff and student health and safety protocols.
