The Shaker Heights City School District is sending this email as a notification of important COVID-19-related information. The Daily COVID-19 Update will be sent each weekday evening excluding holidays when District offices are closed.

During Winter Break, the Daily COVID-19 Update emails will be sent Monday-Wednesday (Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-30) in accordance with the District’s holiday schedule.

New Cases

Today, the District received reports of 2 new positive COVID-19 cases among staff. For more information, please visit the District’s online COVID-19 Dashboard. The Dashboard is updated weekdays at 4 p.m. excluding holidays when District offices are closed.

Case Details

  • The individuals received a positive test result and notified the District.

  • One individual is a staff member at Lomond and was last onsite on Friday, December 18. The second individual is a staff member at Mercer and was last onsite on Tuesday, December 22.

  • The individuals will isolate until they meet the criteria to end the isolation period (10 days from the onset of symptoms, as well as an improvement in symptoms and 24 hours fever-free without the use of medication).

  • The District is following CCBH recommendations and is contacting any individuals who are considered to be close contacts.

How Dashboard Cases are Reported

The Dashboard is updated as families and staff members report cases to the Shaker Heights City School District. Families should contact their building principal if a student tests positive or is presumed positive. Staff members should contact the Human Resources Department to report a positive or presumed positive case.

Reminder: Fill Out the Daily Health Assessment

All staff should continue to complete the District’s daily health assessment/COVID-19 screening each day if they are reporting onsite.

Health and Safety

It continues to be important for all staff, students and families to adhere to the key public health prevention strategies to reduce the chance for transmission of COVID-19.

Please also be sure to review the District’s staff and student health and safety protocols (updated 11/17/20).
