Student Athletes to Begin Limited Skills Training; Tennis Court Open to the Public
Student athletes and their coaches will be able to access school athletic facilities for limited skills training beginning Monday, June 15, 2020, as a part of a phased opening timeline and plan. Developed by the Athletic Department, this plan was created to ensure the health and safety of our student athletes, their coaches and spectators. Additionally, the District has reopened tennis courts for use by the community. Singles play only is encouraged, and social distancing protocols are expected to be followed.

Opening limited facilities, such as the stadium, will allow our student athletes to work on their preseason conditioning and skills. These sessions will be available only to student athletes and their coaches. Spectators are discouraged. The sessions will be governed by strict protocols to ensure the health and safety of all participants. Participants must wear masks, practice social distancing and will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms prior to working out.

The District will evaluate these sessions before deciding whether to reopen other outdoor and indoor facilities, such as the weight room and gymnasiums. The District is also working with the City of Shaker Heights to evaluate the possible use of District athletic facilities for Shaker Heights Recreation Department and community use. Additionally, the District is also in the process of evaluating when we can open our playgrounds in a safe and healthful way.
