A Message Regarding COVID-19 and Athletic Activities
July 10, 2020—The Shaker Heights High School Athletic Department continues to monitor the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and is following closely the Risk Level Alerts in the state's Public Health Advisory System. Cuyahoga County is showing a significant increase in cases and is on the verge of moving into Level 4 (Severe Exposure and Spread).

This message is to notify all coaches, student-athletes, and families that in the event that Cuyahoga County moves into Level 4 (Severe Exposure and Spread) the District will immediately suspend all athletic activities. Guidance from local health and government officials, as well as District and school-level administration will determine a safe return from any suspension of athletic activities.

Coaches will prepare for the possibility of moving to virtual training and/or team meetings and create a plan to communicate with student-athletes during a potential suspension of athletic activities.

As we move forward toward an anticipated start date of August 1 for fall sports, we ask for your continued flexibility and patience over the next few weeks. While we are all excited to build on the gains from our return to training, we will continue to be proactive in our response to coronavirus and act out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

The Shaker Heights High School Athletic Department will provide updates as necessary.
