Description:

The onsite PSAT/NMSQT for pre-registered Juniors on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Test-takers will not miss any class time, as all SHHS students will either be testing or completing remote independent work on Tuesday, January 26.

A student guide for the PSAT was emailed to all registered juniors students. Paper copies of the guide are available in the high school lobby.

Please review the following action items and policies prior to testing:

  • Arrival and On-Campus Conduct - Students who do not feel well or are exhibiting COVID-like symptoms the morning of the test, should not report to school.  When arriving, and while on campus, all students must wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times. Failure to adhere to safety precautions and guidelines will result in being asked to leave campus. Breakfast will be available for students 7:45 - 8:25 a.m.  While students are eating breakfast, they must remain seated in the designated areas of the cafeteria.

  • Room Assignments - Students will receive an email with their testing room assignment.  Students should report to their testing room by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26.

  • Materials Needed - Students should bring a picture ID, two No. 2 pencils, an approved calculator (see page 36 in student guide), and a nut-free snack and drink for the break.  These items must be stored under the student’s desk at the beginning of testing. Proctors will alert students when they may access these items.

  • Electronic Devices - Students are encouraged NOT to bring electronic devices (other than approved calculators), such as cell phones, smart watches, and fitness trackers.  Any electronic devices brought to the testing room must be powered off,  stored away from the student, and unavailable until all testing is completed.  If a student has a device in possession while testing or during a break, even if powered off, it may result in the student’s scores being canceled.

  • Breaks - Students may only eat their snacks during approved breaks.

  • Testing Accommodations - If a student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan, the testing accommodations that have been previously approved by the College Board will be implemented and followed. Students must remain in the test room for the entire amount of time that is permitted even if students finish the test early.

  • Discussing Exam Content After Testing - Students may not discuss or reveal details about the exam content after the test.

  • Dismissal/Lunch - Students are required to sit for the entire test time. Students leaving prior to being dismissed may result in their scores being canceled.  Lunch will be provided as a grab-and-go option as students leave the building.

  • Students who Miss the PSAT/NMSQT Administration - There is no make-up for the PSAT.  If students miss the exam, and think they could have qualified as a National Merit Semi-Finalist, please contact Sara Chengelis.

**All dates are subject to cancellation, change and virtual options (where applicable).
