June 1, 2021—Shaker Heights High School Intervention Specialist and Learning Garden Coordinator Dr. Stacey Steggert has been selected by the National Park Service to participate in the Teacher Ranger Teacher program this summer. This program is highly competitive. Of the 423 units managed by the NPS, approximately 55 units will have Teacher Ranger Teachers this summer.

Dr. Steggert is one of two educators selected by the NPS to work with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. In addition to acquiring new skills through a partnership with the University of Colorado Denver, Dr. Steggert will engage in curriculum development focused on the environmental history of the Cuyahoga River. This curriculum will become part of the NPS educational program, and will be available nationally to middle school and high school audiences.

Through this program, Dr. Steggert is looking forward to bringing more experiential place-based learning to Shaker Heights students! Congratulations, Dr. Steggert!
