Tiara Sargeant Appointed DEI Coordinator

June 8, 2021—The District is pleased to announce that Tiara Sargeant has been appointed Coordinator of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). She will assume her new duties this summer.

Ms. Sargeant is currently the adviser to the Student Group on Race Relations (SGORR), a position she has held since 2019. As DEI coordinator, she will work with the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in organizing, coordinating, and implementing programs and initiatives that are aligned to the District’s Strategic Plan.

The coordinator will provide research and programmatic support for multiple DEI initiatives, and will support the DEI Office goals by providing key project management and coordination of high-importance, large-scale, complex projects and programs.

In her role as SGORR adviser, Ms. Sargeant mentors SGORR leaders, helps develop and revise SGORR’s curriculum and advises 250 SGORR members. Previously, she served as lead facilitator at the Effective Leadership Academy in Warrensville Heights, where she helped develop programming to give young people the confidence to make positive choices in their lives.

Ms. Sargeant earned a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications from Hampton University and a master’s degree in positive organization development from Case Western Reserve University.

“Ms. Sargeant brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this newly created position,” said Dr. JeffriAnne Wilder, Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “She is ideally suited to help take our DEI work to the next level.”
