A Message from Dr. David Glasner

January 14, 2022

Good Afternoon Shaker Heights Families and Staff,

As we wrap up our second week of learning after our return from winter recess, I would like to thank each of you for your continued vigilance and care for the health and well-being of our staff and students. Over the last two weeks, I have visited many of our school buildings and stopped into classrooms. It has been great to see our students engaged in meaningful, enthusiastic learning and enjoying the company of their classmates and teachers.

Our District has experienced a significant downward trend in COVID-19 cases since our return from break, one we are hopeful will continue. We encourage everyone to continue to remain vigilant, wear masks and social distance, stay home when experiencing any symptoms, test if necessary and vaccinate against COVID-19 when eligible.

As most of you know, this coming Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. While the District has the day off from classes, I hope you will take time to reflect upon the legacy of this American leader. Dr. King envisioned a society based on justice, equal opportunity and a love of one another. This idea of a Beloved Community will be further emphasized during the PTO’s planned event this Monday. Information and a link to join this virtual event can be found here.

I wish you all a restful and safe long weekend.

Dr. David Glasner
