Homecoming Dances on Saturday, October 2, 2021

The dances will be held at the High School with the following guidelines and expectations:

  • We highly recommend that students and families seriously consider their vaccination status and individual situations prior to deciding to attend the dance.

  • Every student planning to attend Homecoming must complete this Homecoming Intent Form. This form must be completed by 5 p.m., on September 28. You will not be able to access the form after that time. Students who have not submitted this form will not be allowed to attend the Homecoming dance.

  • In order to facilitate a social environment, which allows for mandatory contact tracing, students will be grouped together by grades, and then further grouped by pods of students as shown below:

  • Grades 9 - 10 Homecoming dance is 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

  • Grades 11 - 12 Homecoming dance is 9 p.m. - 11 p.m.

  • Upon entering the dance, all students will be given a wristband indicating their pod.

  • Students will remain within their pod (standing/dance floor area, outdoor area, sitting/bleacher area, etc.) throughout the entire dance.

  • Masks are required at all times while inside the school.

  • The dance will take place in the North Gym, with a mask-break station outside in the North Parking Lot.

  • During the dance, all pods will be expected to stay together as a group of students. If anyone in their pod tests positive for COVID-19 and was within the contagion period while at the event, all students in that pod will be considered a close contact. Currently, Cuyahoga County guidelines require any unvaccinated close contact to quarantine for seven to ten days. If there is a case of COVID-19, unvaccinated close contacts during Homecoming will be required to quarantine from school.

  • If anyone crosses pods and there is a confirmed case of COVID-19, both pods will be considered close contacts. Currently, Cuyahoga County guidelines require any unvaccinated close contact to quarantine for seven to  ten days.

  • Seniors (Class of 2022) will be allowed to invite one (1) non-SHHS student to attend as a date/guest.  All required information requested on the Homecoming Intent Form must be completed for that guest as well, and the above guidelines will apply to all guests.

  • Tickets can be purchased online beginning on Wednesday, September 29.

  • No tickets will be sold at the door.

  • We encourage all attendees to wear soft soled shoes for comfort and to minimize damage to the recently refinished floor in the North Gym.

We realize that Homecoming is a fun and special event for our students. At the same time, attendance is neither required nor expected. Our team is taking every possible step to hold this event by designing protocols and enforcing precautions to facilitate the safety of all participants.

All students are expected to follow all of our protocols and directions. Any student who fails to follow the expectations outlined in this letter, including but not limited to crossing pods, refusing to wear a mask, etc. will be subject to removal from the dance. Parents are expected to have transportation plans prepared in the event a student must be picked up from the dance for failure to comply with these expectations. We must err on the side of caution for the safety of our students and staff. Any student who crosses pods, takes off their mask and disregards the guidelines outlined in this letter, will be considered a close contact if a COVID-19 case occurs.

We all realize that no matter what we do, this will not be the same as a pre-pandemic dance. We have done our best to explore all options and provide students with the opportunity to have 2021 Homecoming. Following all expectations outlined in this letter will help make it feasible to hold future events this school year.
