Champions Remote Learning Center Available

November 23, 2020—Shaker Heights Schools families who require child care supports during the period of remote learning may register for a supervised remote learning center provided by Champions, a KinderCare Education company.

Space in this program is very limited to allow for physical distancing requirements. Only students in Grades K-6 who are enrolled in Shaker Heights Schools or children of employees who are in Grades K-6 are eligible.

The Champions program will run through Friday, January 15 at Woodbury Elementary School. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Champions caregivers will support students during remote learning for Shaker Heights Schools as well as facilitate activities and curriculum during periods when students are not involved in remote learning experiences.

Breakfast and a snack will be provided daily. Lunch will be provided free of charge by the District’s food service provider, AVI. Students may also bring their own meals.

The Champions program is $225 per week. Financial assistance and scholarships are available for families who are eligible for free/reduced meals. Step 9 of the Enrollment Guide outlines instructions on applying for subsidies and grants/scholarships within Champion’s enrollment process. There is no registration fee through September 13.
