October 9, 2020—The District is pleased to share the results of a comprehensive District-Wide HVAC Study of its buildings performed by Heapy Engineering Inc., a nationally recognized industry leader in air quality, ventilation and heating and cooling. While the District regularly checks air quality in its buildings, concerns about the spread of COVID-19, flu and other airborne illnesses during the school year warranted a comprehensive inspection and analysis prior to the start of onsite learning.
Heapy representatives began visiting our buildings in mid-September to inspect and analyze our ventilation systems. The systems were evaluated for general functionality, overall condition, and filtration and cleanliness. Analysts inspected and tested systems in all of the District’s 287 classrooms as well as office spaces.
Heapy provided the district with recommendations to further increase outside air flow in specific classrooms and work spaces. The District is reviewing these recommendations and making necessary adjustments.
