Middle School Power of the Pen Teams Earn Top Honors

February 22, 2021—Congratulations to the following Shaker Heights Middle School students, who earned top honors at the virtual Power of the Pen District Tournament on January 31:

  • Isabel Siegel (Grade 7) won Best of Round in all three rounds of writing and first place individual honors among seventh grade students. 

  • Zoe Stiefel (Grade 8) won the Director's Choice award for one round of writing and placed fifth overall as an individual among eighth grade students.

  • Ingrid Holda (Grade 8) placed 10th overall as an individual among eighth grade students. 

In addition, the seventh grade team placed second among seventh grade teams and the eighth grade team placed fourth among eight grade teams.

The following students will advance to the regional competition on March 13: seventh-grade students Jacqueline Anzo, Daniel Carroll, Alexa Carpenter, Isabel Siegel and Neko Tien; and eighth-grade students Ingrid Holda, Anjum Reddy, Zoe Stiefel and Asher Voorhees. 


Power of the Pen is coached by Middle School Language and Literature teachers Sara Lambert and Erika Pfeiffer.
