We’ll be sending you regular updates during this extended closure to share any new information and to remind you about previous messages we don’t want you to have missed. Some updates will be shorter and some will be longer, but we’ll be staying in touch.

Even though our schools and offices are closed, our faculty and staff are still committed to working hard each day on behalf of every student and family.

What’s New

  • Today, Dr. Glasner shared this end-of-year message with all families. The message included information about planning for next school year and a link to complete the Fall Re-entry Survey. This survey will help the District better understand how we can best meet the needs of our students and families in the fall.

Coming Up

  • The Senior Clap-Out Committee, Shaker Heights High School, After-Prom Committee and the Shaker Schools Foundation invite you to help celebrate the Class of 2020. On Friday, June 5, seniors, their families and community members are invited to a virtual clap-out with each senior’s elementary school. Seniors will join via a Zoom link and Shaker families may join via their school Facebook page with Facebook Live. Learn more about this special celebration.

  • Students in Grade 4 will celebrate with a Mobile Clap-Out on Thursday, June 4. Details for the Mobile Clap-Out are available here.

  • Woodbury Elementary School is planning a virtual Clap-Out for students in Grade 6 on Wednesday, June 3. The school will send additional information to families with students in Grade 6 in the coming days.

  • Shaker Heights Middle School will host a Virtual Academic Awards/Recognition Program for students in Grade 8 on June 2 at 12 p.m. The Middle School will share a link with families via email, on the Shaker Heights Middle School website, Middle School Facebook page, and Instagram. Awards and recognition certificates will be mailed to students via US Mail.

Reminders

  • Student item pick-up/drop-off began on Thursday, May 28. Pick-up/drop-off dates and times vary by building. Click here to view your student’s pick-up/drop-off information.

  • Gov. DeWine declared last week that individual skill training for all sports may resume and OHSAA announced that the No-Contact Period will be lifted for all sports beginning Tuesday, May 26. The District and the SHHS Athletic Department are evaluating the directives and will update our athletic community once we determine the best way for training to resume in our school facilities. In the meantime, Shaker school buildings and athletic facilities remain closed.

  • The District is offering online enrollment for the 2020-21 academic year. Parents and guardians may submit required forms electronically by computer or mobile phone. Learn about online enrollment.

  • We want to hear from you! The District has launched a feedback and comment form to gather stakeholder input on the current extended closure, summer enrichment and learning plans, and fall re-entry plans for the 2020-2021 school year. The form is also available on the Extended Closure Resources webpage
