We’ll be sending you regular updates during this extended closure to share any new information and to remind you about previous messages we don’t want you to have missed. Some updates will be shorter and some will be longer, but we’ll be staying in touch.

Even though our schools and offices are closed, our faculty and staff are still committed to working hard each day on behalf of every student and family.

What’s New

  • Weekday and weekend breakfast and lunch delivery will continue this summer for students on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 20 locations throughout the Shaker Heights City School District attendance zone. Distribution times and locations follow the District's Extended Closure Meal Distribution Plan.

  • Additionally, many Shaker families may be eligible to participate in the Pandemic – Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) Program, which provides additional money for families to buy food due to COVID-19 related school closures. Families with children who receive free or reduced-price school meals under the National School Lunch Program will receive P-EBT funds. For information, click here.

  • If you missed watching the Virtual Commencement for the Class of 2020, you can watch it online here. Additionally, you can watch the Middle School Academic Awards & Recognition Ceremony as well as the Woodbury Sixth Grade Clap Out.

  • Report cards are available for families District-wide tonight after 5 p.m. on ProgressBook. If you’ve already logged in to ProgressBook, but need a refresher on the portal or logging in, please view our ProgressBook Help page online. If you have not yet logged into ProgressBook and if you no longer have this information, please email [email protected] for your student’s ProgressBook registration key.

Coming Up

  • On June 2, Governor DeWine announced that Ohio intends to reopen schools in the fall, but that individual starting dates will be up to each local school board. The governor’s office will issue broad reopening guidelines for schools in the near future in regard to protecting the health of students and staff when the school year resumes. The District will share those as soon as they become available. In the meantime, the District continues to collect information on multiple reopening plans.

Reminders

  • There is less than a week remaining to complete Shaker Heights Schools' Fall Re-entry Survey. The survey will close Wednesday, June 10. Your responses will help the District determine how we can best meet the needs of our students and families in these uncertain times. Complete the survey here.

  • The District is offering online enrollment for the 2020-21 academic year. Parents and guardians may submit required forms electronically by computer or mobile phone. Learn about online enrollment.

  • We want to hear from you! The District has launched a feedback and comment form to gather stakeholder input on the current extended closure, summer enrichment and learning plans, and fall re-entry plans for the 2020-2021 school year. The form is also available on the Extended Closure Resources webpage
