Google Hangouts Available for K-8 Students Weekdays 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

May 1, 2020—The District has revised access to Google Hangouts for students in Grades K-8, making it available for use on weekdays from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. The application will be blocked during the evening and on weekends. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Google Hangouts remains open for High School student use without time restrictions.

While Google Hangouts is an excellent tool for teachers and students to use during distance learning, the District wishes to minimize opportunities for negative behaviors that may occur in unsupervised chats and video sessions during after-school hours. Please note that Google Meet, a tool used only for teacher-initiated video-conferencing is still available for student use at any time.
