PreK-4 Timeline for Shaker Heights Schools Back-to-School Information

Dear Shaker Heights Schools Families,

Shaker Heights Schools faculty and staff have been hard at work preparing for the start to the 2020-2021 school year. Because of the developmental and logistical needs of our students during this unique time, the District is modifying our back-to-school information timelines for this school year. 

Outlined below are the planned timelines for class placement information, Chromebook and supplies distribution, class meetings and orientations. Your student’s school building will continue to provide you with the most up-to-date information.

Class Placements & Schedules

• PreK: The PreK team will communicate teacher placements with families directly.
• Grades K-4: K-4 teacher placements will be emailed to families on Wednesday, August 19.

Chromebooks & Supplies

• PreK: The PreK team will coordinate with families directly regarding supplies and devices.
• Kindergarten: Kindergarten families can pick up District-issued Chromebooks from the student’s home school on Friday, August 21, from 2-6 p.m. Information about Kindergarten supplies distribution will be coming soon.
• Grades 1-4: Information on Chromebook distribution for Grade 1-4 students new to the District will be forthcoming. Information about supply distribution for all Grades 1-4 students will also be coming soon.

• Grades K-4: Grade K-4 students and families will attend virtual family meetings with their classroom teacher between 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, August 24 or Tuesday, August 25. Families will receive a direct invitation to their Google Meeting.

• Information on connecting with these virtual orientations will come directly from your student’s school building.
• Kindergarten: All five elementary schools will hold virtual Kindergarten orientations on Thursday, August 27. Times are as follows:

• Student last names beginning with A-M: 5-6 p.m.

• Student last names beginning with N-Z: 6:30-7:30 p.m

• Grades 1-4: All five elementary schools will hold virtual orientations for Grade 1-4 families new to the District from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26.
