Shaker Jumpstart to offer Summer Enrichment and Learning Resources

June 16, 2020—The Shaker Heights City School District is pleased to announce the plans for Shaker Jumpstart— a summer distance-learning program that will be offered virtually Mondays through Thursdays beginning July 6 and concluding July 30. 

The program’s enrichment and learning website will offer a variety of resources for families with students at all grade levels, including book clubs for required summer reading for grades 7-12, college readiness webinars, cooking tutorials, mindfulness exercises and social-emotional supports.

Additionally, students in grades K-8 will be able to sign up for pre-recorded lessons in Google Classrooms, which will feature two learning activities daily Monday through Thursday. These activities will focus on language arts and math skills. Students who participate in these Classrooms will be able to earn achievement badges and prizes.

The District will also offer targeted small-group interventions and instruction around language arts, math and social-emotional needs. If your student qualifies for these targeted interventions, you will be contacted by a District representative.
