Dr. Marla Robinson Named Chief of Strategic Priorities Officer

Dr. Marla RobinsonJune 30, 2022 – The District is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Marla Robinson as the District’s Chief of Strategic Priorities Officer, effective July 1, 2022. 
In her new position, Dr. Robinson will provide crucial leadership and support to advance key areas of the District’s Five-Year Strategic Plan. Her duties will include:
  • Developing and implementing a plan to recruit, hire, retain, and advance teachers and administrative staff from underrepresented racial, ethnic and gender populations
  • Coordinating and implementing orientation and onboarding programming for new staff
  • Assisting with the development of a long-term facilities plan that supports student learning and educational equity
  • Overseeing a process to explore the expansion of the Innovative Center for Personalized Learning (IC) for students in grades below high school
  • Collaborating with other District leaders to advance the progress toward Strategic Plan goals and objectives
  • District-level coordination and leadership across a wide range of areas
“Dr. Robinson’s breadth of experience and deep knowledge of our District make her uniquely and ideally suited to drive this important work. In her new role, she will help ensure that all parts of our Strategic Plan are given the attention and leadership they need and deserve,” said Superintendent Dr. David Glasner. 
Dr. Robinson has served as the District’s Chief Academic Officer since 2019. Since arriving in Shaker 11 years ago, she has held several top leadership positions, including most recently Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and Chief of Staff. She began her career as a teacher in the Decatur (Illinois) Public Schools, becoming a principal in 1994. She subsequently served in the district as Director of Human Resources and Deputy Superintendent. 
Dr. Robinson earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching from Millikin University, a master’s degree and educational specialist degree in educational leadership and administration from Eastern Illinois University, and a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from Illinois State University.
“Our Strategic Plan provides a roadmap to educational equity for all of our children,” Dr. Robinson said. “Implementing its goals and objectives is the District’s highest priority.”
