Two Shaker Heights Seniors Receive ACE Scholarships

May 24, 2022 - Two Shaker Heights students were awarded renewable ACE scholarships. The ACE Mentor Program (ACE) is an after-school program designed to attract high school students to pursue careers in the architecture (A), construction (C), and engineering (E) industry. The program is designed to engage, excite and enlighten students about career opportunities through mentoring and continued support for their advancement into the A/C/E industry. Shaker Heights is new to the ACE Cleveland family, holding a full-year pilot program this year.
 
The two of the students who participated in the pilot program that were selected as ACE scholarship recipients are seniors Daniel Akintoye and Owen McPhee-Keath.
 
Daniel Akintoye, a first-year ACE student and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme learner, is interested in studying Applied Math at Oral Roberts and is receiving a $1,000 renewable award for a four-year total of $4,000.
 
Owen McPhee-Keath, a first-year ACE student and two-year career technical education (CTE) student participating in Project Lead the Way, is planning to study Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University. Owen is receiving a $2,000 renewable award, for a four-year total of $8,000.
