Attendance

Consistent school attendance is key to student success.

At Shaker Heights Schools, we are committed to supporting students and families in building strong attendance habits. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve academic success and graduate on time. We use a restorative approach to support students with attendance concerns and work in partnership with families to address challenges.

Attendance is taken daily—and in every class period at the High School—and absences are marked as unexcused until a parent or legal guardian provides an acceptable excuse per Board policy. If absences due to illness become frequent, a physician’s note may be required.

We encourage all families to report absences using the PowerSchool Portal for convenience and accuracy. (Note: This feature is not available in the PowerSchool app.)

Attendance Contacts by School

Families may report absences by calling or emailing their student’s school or by logging into the PowerSchool Portal.
