Grade 4 IB Exhibition

Exhibition is the culminating, collaborative experience in the final year of the PYP.

The exhibition is an authentic process that allows students to explore, research, document and share their understanding of  an issue. The topics are student-initiated and have significance and relevance locally and globally. As students carry out an open-ended inquiry into a real life issue, they are led to take action.

Exhibition also provides students with an opportunity to exhibit the learner profile attributes as well as demonstrate agency, independence and responsibility for their own learning. As you may remember, there are six transdisciplinary themes in the PYP. Fourth graders plan the final unit of inquiry. At Fernway, Exhibition occurs during the 4th grade WHO WE ARE theme. Students determine the central idea and lines of inquiry.

Each Exhibition group has a mentor who helps students set and meet their goals by asking questions, suggesting resources, helping to interpret difficult information and facilitating interviews of primary sources.

After weeks of hard work, the fourth graders are ready to celebrate and share their learning with their families and the community. Please check the District's online calendar for Fernway's IB Exhibition date for the current school year.
