For Bus Riders:

  • Students should be at the bus stop at least 5 minutes prior to their scheduled pick up times.
  • Kindergarten students must be met at the afternoon bus stop by a designated responsible person.

Shaker Heights City Schools provides transportation for eligible resident pupils in Grades K-8. There is no school bus transportation for high school students (public transportation passes can be purchased in the High School main office).

Starting in mid-August, families may obtain their student’s school bus information through BusRight or  in PowerSchool using a web browser (not in the PowerSchool app).

What is BusRight?

BusRight is a transportation app that gives families more visibility into their child’s bus route. With BusRight, parents and guardians can:

  • Track the school bus in real time

  • Receive alerts when the bus begins and ends its route

  • View estimated arrival times at their child’s assigned stop

  • Receive important notifications from the Shaker Heights Schools Transportation Department

Getting Started in BusRight

Families with students on participating bus routes will receive an invitation to join BusRight before the start of the school year. The email will come from support@busright.com. This email will include a link to create your BusRight account.

Bus Information in PowerSchool

School bus schedules also can be found by logging into your child’s PowerSchool account just before school starts in August. Click on the “Bus Route” link along the left sidebar in PowerSchool's Parent Portal. Available information includes a student's bus number, stop location and stop times. This information is only available when accessing the Parent Portal through a desktop or mobile web browser. It is not available on the PowerSchool app.

Getting to School Safely

Students may walk to and from school, be driven, ride a bicycle or, if eligible, ride a school bus. Students must not arrive to school too early because there is no supervision in the schools or on the playgrounds prior to the start of the school day.

Alternate Stop and Special Requests

The Transportation Department will consider alternate stop locations and special requests. Requests must be submitted annually on a Transportation Change Request Form. Transportation Forms can be found in the PowerSchool Portal. Log in to PowerSchool website using an internet browser (not the app), and select "Forms" in the left-hand menu.
