District Announces Staggered Start for the 2025-2026 School Year

In order to provide for intentional start-of-school orientation time for students, particularly for those students who are transitioning to new buildings or who are new to the District, Shaker Heights Schools is planning to continue the use of a staggered start for the 2025-2026 school year. Students will start the school year as follows:

School Day 1 (Wednesday, August 20, 2025):

• Kindergarten-Grade 5 will have meetings scheduled with each family
• Grade 6 attend all day
• New-to-District Grade 7-8 student tours
• Grade 9 attend all day
• Grades 7-8 and 10-12 do not attend

School Day 2 (Thursday, August 21, 2025):

• Kindergarten-Grade 5 students attend all day
• Grades 6-8 attend all day
• Grades 9-12 in school all day

School Day 3 (Friday, August 22, 2025):

• All K-12 students attend all day

Ludlow Early Learning Center:

• Meetings with families September 2-3
• First day of preschool will be September 4

The staggered start schedule will be shared with families in the District’s eNews, on the shaker.org website and through back-to-school information throughout the summer.
