The Shaker Heights Board of Education held a Special Meeting on May 27, 2025. Highlights from the meeting include:

Call to Order

Board President Lora Cover called the meeting to order. This is a Special Meeting to address personnel-related action items.

Public Comment

While Public Comment is not regularly a part of Special Meeting agendas, Board President Cover opened the floor for public comment for those in attendance. Community members and students gave public comment regarding the District’s planned reduction of Latin course offerings.

Personnel Actions

The Board approved routine annual personnel actions, including contract renewals, faculty continuing contracts and staff resignations.

In addition, the Board approved the abolishment or reduction in force of the following non-bargaining administrative positions:

• Preschool Coordinator
• Data Specialist
• Innovative Center Assistant Principal
• Director of DEI Professional Learning
• Chief Strategic Priorities Officer

The Board tabled a vote on a reduction in force for a Latin faculty position from a 1.0 FTE to a 0.6 FTE.
